Pick up a package of Taco Bell Taco Seasoning mix and you will find Maltodextrin, Monosodium Glutamate, Silicon Dioxide, Sugar, Malic Acid and Soybean Oil (which is not organic and means it is made from GMO soybeans).  Half of the entire ingredients list is made of unhealthy, unclean items.  Taco seasoning is one of the easiest things to make at home.  I always make a big batch and store the remainder for future use.  Now you won’t ever have to pick up a prepackaged seasoning mix again!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp sea salt

Preparation:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Add 1-2 tablespoons of mixture for each pound of taco meat used.
  3. Remainder can easily be stored in a sealed container for future use.

Note:

This seasoning mix is on the spicy side.  If you are looking for something milder then reduce the amount of Chili Powder and Crush Red Pepper Flakes by half and replace with 1 tablespoon Paprika.
